Hearing Evaluations for Children and Adults:
If you suspect hearing loss, you will need a comprehensive hearing test from an audiologist. The audiologist will examine your ears, perform the hearing test, and then explain the test results. Audiometric evaluations are available for persons of all ages at the Place for Better Hearing.
Performing an audiological evaluation on a child often takes more time than for adults. It is important to schedule a hearing test for a child at a time when you know the child will be at his or her best. Try to avoid scheduling an appointment when the child is tired or cranky, such as during nap times.
Play audiometry is a testing procedure used to make testing fun for the children and help achieve the most accurate results. We adjust the test procedure to the age and ability of the child. Most children can be evaluated in one session, although it is not uncommon for a child to require two sessions.

Hearing Aid Consultations:
After your hearing test, your audiologist will review the test results with you and discuss your options. During a Hearing Aid Consultation, the audiologist will discuss the different styles of hearing aids and see which type of circuitry will meet your hearing loss, communication needs and lifestyle.

New Hearing Aids:
Hearing aids come in a variety of sizes, prices, and technologies, so finding a solution to hearing loss has never been easier. Choosing the right hearing aid requires consideration of your lifestyle, communication needs, hearing test results, and manual dexterity. Hearing aids that are custom-made to fit your ear include Invisible-In-The-Canal (IIC), Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC), In-The-Canal (ITC), and In-The-Ear (ITE) hearing aids. Behind-the-ear (BTE) style hearing aids can have the same high-tech circuitry available in custom-made hearing aids. Receiver-In-The-Canal (RIC) hearing aids are smaller and lighter than the BTE. They have a sleek design and are barely visible when worn. At the Place for Better Hearing, we sell and service Starkey and Micro tech hearing aids. We also repair all makes and models of hearing aids.
